Gambia police launch refresher training to boost investigator skills

Gambia Police Inspector General Seedy Mukhtar Touray opened a two-day refresher course for criminal investigators on November 4 at the national headquarters in Banjul. The Crime Management Department organized the session, drawing officers from multiple regions to enhance skills in modern evidence handling, forensic techniques, and ethical policing standards. Touray called continuous training vital for maintaining public trust in law enforcement.

During his address, the police chief stressed that competent investigators form the backbone of credible justice systems. He urged strict adherence to fairness and integrity in all case processing, noting that citizen confidence depends on impartial conduct. Touray praised specialized training modules developed to address evolving criminal trends as part of the force's 2024-2028 strategic reform plan.

This initiative supports institutional transformation goals under Touray's leadership, emphasizing professionalism and accountability improvements. The program included collaborative discussions among regional units to strengthen coordinated responses to complex crimes.
