Gambian Culinary Stars Steal the Show in Morocco

Gambian students from the Tourism and Hospitality Institute dominated an international culinary competition in Morocco. The weeklong event, which was held at Mohammedia Vocational High School for Hospitality and Tourism, featured teams from seven countries competing across multiple culinary categories.

The Gambian team of Muhammed Jarra, Rohey Jobe, Hassan Demba, and Ousman Camara, led by coach Peter Mendy, secured impressive victories. They clinched first place in Best Cuisine, second place in Barista Service and Pastry, and fourth place in Bakery.

Institute leaders Momodou Singhateh and Peter Mendy celebrated the students' remarkable achievement. The competition aimed to highlight professional skills, creativity, and technical expertise among hospitality students from around the world.

This victory reinforces the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute's reputation for excellence in culinary and hospitality education. The students have received widespread congratulations from industry supporters, marking a significant moment for Gambian educational achievement on the international stage.
