Gambias Changemaker Snags Top Commonwealth Role

Ba Samba Drammeh will represent Gambia on the newly formed Commonwealth Council for Social Work. The COSW president, Sylvia Daisy Romanus, confirmed his nomination in an official letter. Drammeh must attend an induction webinar on May 3. The council plans to hold its first meeting on May 24.

Drammeh works as a social entrepreneur, human rights advocate, and community leader in Gambia. He earned a Master's degree in International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Action with extra training in diplomacy and African studies. He has led the Association of Social Workers in The Gambia since 2019. During his leadership, he brought the organization into international networks. He also promoted sustainable development throughout his career.

The Standard newspaper received the official appointment letter. Drammeh gained wide recognition for his efforts in social justice, economic development, and international cooperation. His appointment is part of the establishment of this new Commonwealth body.
