Gaming board vows clampdown, shady players under fire

Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe is pushing for a serious crackdown on shady gambling operations in Zimbabwe because illegal operators are basically stealing tax money and scamming people. Deputy Minister Chido Sanyatwe delivered his message at a Lotteries and Gaming Board workshop in Nyanga, and the main vibe was that the board needs to modernize with digital tracking systems to catch sketchy players who dodge regulations.

Kazembe said the gambling sector has blown up recently, but it needs to stay legit and help the country hit its Vision 2030 development goals instead of just making quick cash. Permanent Secretary Aaron Nhepera backed him up, saying illegal gaming joints wreck fair competition and make everyone distrust the whole industry.

The government wants the board to beef up enforcement and update laws to match international standards while protecting vulnerable people from getting exploited by unregulated platforms.
