Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced on Wednesday that he resigned from office at the direction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, according to local reports. Gandapur stated he would support the incoming chief minister and continue serving the province under PTI’s leadership, according to Samaa TV.
PTI officials stated that the move followed internal discussions aimed at reorganizing the provincial administration for improved governance. Party sources said Imran Khan personally requested Gandapur’s resignation to ensure a stable transition.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that Sohail Afridi was nominated as the new chief minister. Raja said the decision was made in Gandapur’s best interest and expected Afridi to coordinate with the federal government.
The announcement followed reports of internal tensions between Gandapur and Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan. To ease disputes, Khan directed both to avoid public statements. Gandapur had earlier accused vloggers of spreading division in PTI and promoting Aleema Khan as the party’s next leader.
