Gayeshwar calls PR a fascist ploy in Lalbagh

BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy accused proportional representation supporters of fascist collaboration during a Friday speech. Roy warned that delayed February elections could restore fascism and endanger the country through rising communal forces. He addressed Hindu minorities at a Lalbagh crematorium gathering during Durga Puja celebrations.

Roy questioned whether harassment faced by some officials during a recent New York incident represented negligence or conspiracy. He claimed certain parties exploit the interim government while three ministries operate beyond governmental control. The BNP leader urged party activists to protect Puja venues against groups potentially seeking to create communal unrest.

Roy acknowledged internal party challenges regarding multiple candidates competing within single constituencies. He emphasized the need for unified campaigning to avoid voter confusion and ensure electoral success.
