Gerakan says Luyang wants change

Gerakan has stated that voters in Luyang are primarily concerned with local issues and better representation, not recent controversial remarks from a Kedah PAS figure. Gerakan Deputy President Oh Tong Keong claimed that persistent problems like flooding, a weak economy, and traffic congestion continue to plague the constituency despite it being held by DAP. He urged residents to vote for Gerakan, arguing that a DAP member would still serve as the local Member of Parliament and receive federal support.

During a press conference introducing their candidate, William Ooi Hong Yee, Gerakan Sabah Chairman Datuk Alexander Lo addressed sentiments favoring local parties. He argued that the origin of a political party is less important than the integrity of its representatives, stating that corruption is the real issue. The Gerakan candidate for Luyang pledged to focus on revitalizing tourism, supporting small businesses, and improving public facilities and safety.
