German court sided with YMTC in the Micron NAND case

YMTC just blocked Micron from selling chips in Germany. Munich I Regional Court granted this preliminary injunction covering two 3D NAND flash patents, and it could ban SSDs containing those components from entering the country entirely.

Appeals usually follow these decisions, but companies often settle licenses to avoid market exclusion. HKEPC reported the ruling without specifying if existing retail stock gets affected or only future imports.

Third-party laptop makers using Micron parts face secondary exposure here. Crucial branded drives might get caught in the crossfire depending on how judges define the enforcement scope later.

Chinese firms are closing the tech gap with established players like Samsung and SK hynix. CXMT reportedly plans to enter NAND production soon while AI demand strains capacity across the sector.

Micron stays silent on its response strategy for this legal setback. Patent battles will likely increase as emerging manufacturers challenge Western dominance in memory storage markets.
