Get robbed and left to rot in Outward 2 in 2026

Nine Dots Studio revealed new details about Outward 2 during the PC Gaming Show event on Sunday. The Canadian developer set a Summer 2026 release window for the action RPG sequel. Steam users can add the game to their wishlists immediately. The original Outward has sold more than 3 million copies since 2019.

CEO Guillaume Boucher-Vidal explained that the sequel delivers the studio's complete vision for adventurer simulation. Players assume the role of ordinary explorers rather than legendary heroes. The game features enhanced combat systems, improved graphics, and better character creation tools. Eleven different background options allow players to customize their starting experience.

Outward 2 introduces a full seasonal cycle that transforms the world throughout gameplay. The four regions each contain unique biomes and weather patterns. Combat mechanics require tactical decisions about equipment weight and materials. Magic spells demand ritual casting methods for activation.

The sequel supports two-player split-screen and online cooperative play. Players must manage inventory space carefully during exploration and combat. A mule companion helps transport goods across the harsh landscape. The game maintains the consequence system where defeats lead to various outcomes.
