Ghana's oil import companies have accused government officials of causing major problems with fuel delivery schedules. The Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors says petroleum shipment timing has changed 11 times during the first six months of 2025. These constant schedule changes have cost import companies more than 40 million dollars. Patrick Kwaku Ofori leads the chamber and signed a statement criticizing the situation on Tuesday. The group wants the Energy Ministry to fix these problems immediately.
Import companies must wait up to 30 extra days for ships to unload fuel at Ghana's ports because of schedule changes. These delays cost businesses millions of dollars and force them to charge consumers higher prices. Fuel prices have increased between 47 pesewas and 60 pesewas per liter because of these extra costs. The chamber says some ships receive permission to dock outside the official schedule system. One vessel called MT Marlin Ametrine recently docked without following proper rules.

These traders lost business when Nigeria's Dangote Refinery started operating and displaced their operations. The chamber says this threatens Ghana's fuel security and violates presidential orders. Officials allowed unauthorized ship docking despite earlier promises to follow proper procedures. The chamber calls this a serious attack on regulatory systems.
