Ghana Marks First International MSME Day with Call for Digital Transformation

Ghana threw its first ever party for small business owners last Friday at a fancy hotel. Margaret Ansei from the Ghana Enterprises Agency hosted the big event at the Kempinski Hotel. She told everyone that tiny companies make up most of the country's business world. Small firms create jobs for millions of people and bring in most of the money Ghana makes each year. The celebration brought together business people and government workers to talk about helping entrepreneurs succeed.

The party had a catchy theme about connecting business owners through computers and phones. Ansei explained how her agency wants to help small companies grow bigger and stronger. She promised easier loans and better computer training for people starting businesses. Women and young people will receive special attention under the new programs. A fancy computer system called the MSME Gateway Portal will launch soon to help business owners find resources.

Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare praised small business owners for being tough and creative during hard times. She admitted that getting loans and using technology remains difficult for many entrepreneurs. The government plans to help 250,000 small businesses learn how to sell things online. Officials are rewriting the rules about small companies to make things easier. The celebration featured displays and training sessions to teach business skills to attendees.
