Ghana police unmask gruesome ritual cult at Gblorkope shrine in Volta

Police have smashed a deadly ritual killing gang after finding human remains at a shrine in Gblorkope. The horror discovery came after months of detective work following a missing person report filed by Comfort Hatse from Donkorkrom. Her son Nelson Anyana had vanished after meeting Augustina Fiawoyife at Mafi-Adidome on December 4. The 28-year-old trader never came home and his mother feared the worst. Investigators quickly uncovered a twisted plot involving jealousy and murder for money.

The police say herbalist Wisdom Hedidor killed Nelson because he was jealous of his girlfriend Fiawoyife talking to the victim. Fetish priest Gblor Noah had asked for a human body and promised to pay 7000 Ghana cedis for the gruesome delivery. Courage Bedzo the kente weaver passed along the request to Hedidor who agreed to do the killing. On December 12, Fiawoyife lured Nelson to a quiet spot where Hedidor and Bedzo strangled him to death. The woman watched the murder happen without trying to help or raise any alarm.

The killers sold the body to the fetish priest who buried it under an idol at the shrine. Police found three more skeletons buried under other idols plus scattered body parts in nearby bushes. Six suspects got arrested including Fiawoyife, Hedidor, Bedzo, Noah, and two others from the same family. The Ho District Court remanded all six suspects into prison custody until August 6. Forensic experts are working to identify the other victims while police search for more bodies.
