Ghana Youth Told to Ditch Gov Jobs and Build Empires

Three groups organized a major student conference at the University of Media Arts and Communication campus on May 23. The Universal Friendship Organisation worked with security experts and student leaders for the event. Young people came from across Accra to learn about future job markets. Development workers and business leaders joined the campus discussions. Students heard speakers talk about work trends and new career paths.

Samuel Adobah from UFO told students to start businesses instead of waiting for government jobs. He said young people need business skills to succeed against global competition. Since 2019, his organization has helped communities through education and peace programs. The group also supports health care and farming projects across Ghana. Adobah wants students to create jobs rather than search for them.

Officials from the National Youth Authority warned against spending time on social media platforms. Edmond Yeboah said productive activities help young people grow their careers faster. He told students to ignore political arguments that block their progress. Many students waste chances because they think politics controls everything. Smart students apply for opportunities without worrying about political connections.

Ghana has over 34 million people, and young adults make up 38 percent of everyone. Government offices cannot hire all the students who finish school each year. Private companies created over 13 million jobs through small business ventures. Jewel Sowah said unemployment causes mental health problems and increases crime. Students must learn digital skills and start companies to solve job shortages.
