Ghizlane Chebbak wins 2025 CAF Women's Player of the Year

Morocco's Ghizlane Chebbak claimed the CAF Women's Player of the Year honor during a ceremony held in Rabat, outpacing Nigeria captain Rasheedat Ajibade and compatriot Sanna Mssoudy for the continental recognition. The 35-year-old forward earned distinction through her five-goal performance at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, securing both the Golden Boot and a position in the tournament's elite squad while also gaining selection to the FIFA FIFPRO Women's World 11.

Ajibade finished as runner-up despite leading Nigeria to their record tenth WAFCON championship and earning the competition's top individual award before completing a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Chebbak's combination of scoring prowess and consistent displays throughout the season established her as Africa's premier female footballer across club and international competition.
