Zimbabwe's mine managers have selected Gift Mapakame from Shamva Mine to chair their professional body through 2027, replacing Abel Makura after a two-year term. George Wayeni of RZM Murowa will serve as deputy leader.
The Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe operates under the Chamber of Mines framework established in 1972. Council positions went to representatives from operations spanning Mototolo, Acol Chemicals, Pan African, Kuvimba Mining House, Vision, Freda Rebecca, Blanket Mine and Pickstone.
Mapakame acknowledged substantial responsibilities ahead for the organization while pledging collaboration with fellow council members to advance the sector's interests.
