Gigaba seeks court order to block ex-wife's TV interview

Malusi Gigaba asked a court to stop his former wife from appearing on television. The ex-finance minister filed papers at Johannesburg High Court last week. He wants to block Nomachule Mngoma from discussing their marriage on a talk show. Gigaba says the interview will hurt his reputation. He has worked to rebuild his image since their divorce.

The show airs on Showmax and features eight women talking about relationships. Relebogile Mabotja hosts the program called Untied. The episode should have started Tuesday but got delayed until July 7. Gigaba managed to pause the broadcast through his legal action. The court will decide the case next month.

Gigaba told the court he stepped away from public attention after 2018. He wanted to repair his name following personal problems. The former minister said he never spoke publicly about his ex-wife after their split. He made this choice to protect both her reputation and their children. Mngoma recorded the interview talking about their private life and marriage troubles.

The show brings together women who discuss failed relationships. Other guests appear on different episodes of the series. Multichoice and Goat Originals produce the program. Each woman shares personal stories about love and heartbreak. The format allows honest conversations about difficult topics.

Courts often handle disputes between former spouses about privacy rights. Gigaba argues his ex-wife should not discuss their personal matters on television. The legal case highlights tensions between free speech and personal privacy. Many celebrities face similar challenges when relationships end publicly.
