Gitaru Interchange works in Kikuyu, set to ease Nairobi-Nakuru Highway gridlock

Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo reports steady advancement on the Gitaru Interchange project within Kiambu County's Kikuyu Constituency. The Kenya National Highways Authority oversees construction efforts targeting persistent traffic bottlenecks along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Thousands of motorists face regular delays at this busy junction, prompting government intervention. The interchange will enhance connectivity between Nairobi and Kenya's central and western regions. Officials expect significant improvements in travel efficiency once construction concludes.

Parliament's Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah previously highlighted government commitment to addressing transportation challenges at this location. Resources have been allocated to contractors who began site work following official announcements. Traffic disruptions will continue through August 11, 2025, according to KeNHA advisories. Motorists must follow diversion signs and use alternative routes through Muguku Interchange and Kikuyu Link Road. The completed project promises enhanced economic activity and improved mobility for area residents and businesses.
