Glovo, Haba Na Haba deliver over 2.7 million meals

Glovo Uganda and Haba Na Haba food bank have provided more than 2.7 million meals to vulnerable families since March 2024 through a program that rescues surplus food from markets. The delivery company uses its courier network to deliver rescued food to households the same day, preventing waste and maintaining quality.

The partnership expanded from nine delivery routes to 27 active routes serving communities in Kampala and nearby areas. Ivy Maingi from Glovo Uganda said the technology company remains focused on helping communities through its platform. Jessica Bagenda from Haba Na Haba said volunteer support enabled the organization to triple its reach and keep edible food out of landfills.

Both groups said markets generate more surplus food than current volunteers can handle. The organizations plan to recruit more helpers to increase the amount of rescued food reaching families in need.
