GMAZ, ARDA partner for 200,000 tonnes of maize

Zimbabwe's Grain Millers Association signed an agreement with the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority to produce 200,000 tonnes of white maize for the 2025-26 growing season. The state agency will deliver grain to processors in Harare, Bulawayo, and Mutare between April 2026 and March 2027 at $355 per tonne.

ARDA operations director Shingirai Jenah said the partnership reduces import costs and preserves foreign currency reserves. The program provides structured market access and financing solutions for commercial and smallholder farmers through warehouse receipt systems.

Association vice chairman Chipo Nheta called the initiative a major advancement for national food security. Officials expect the collaboration to strengthen domestic grain supplies and support local agricultural value chains across the country.
