Goat tender scam drags on, duo’s $7.7m sentence delayed again

Two Zanu-PF guys convicted of a massive $7.7 million scam just got their sentencing pushed back because prosecutors need more time to get a victim impact statement ready. Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu have been sitting in jail since their arrest, and their lawyers tried to delay things even more by saying they needed the written judgment before they could prepare their defense submissions. The judge shut that down and told them to just watch the court proceedings on YouTube if they wanted to review what happened.

The whole mess started when these two faked tax documents and compliance certificates for a company that didn't even exist, then scored a government contract to supply half a million goats. The fake company called Blackdeck Livestock got awarded the tender, and the government lost the full amount. Their legal team keeps fighting with the judge about procedural stuff, but the case is moving forward whether they show up or not.
