God of War Director Joins DnD Game With Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast partnered with Giant Skull to make a new Dungeons and Dragons video game. Stig Asmussen started Giant Skull last March after working on God of War III and Star Wars Jedi games. The studio will use Unreal Engine 5 technology to build their action-adventure project. Giant Skull had already begun developing the game before signing with Wizards. The partnership moves the project into the popular fantasy universe.

Asmussen wants his team to create rich storytelling and exciting combat for players. The developer plans to fill the game world with heroic adventures and exploration elements. John Hight from Hasbro expressed excitement about working with the experienced creators again. He believes the collaboration fits perfectly with company goals for digital gaming growth. Wizards aims to release one or two games each year through various partnerships.

The company works with several other studios on different gaming projects right after this deal. Archetype Entertainment, Invoke Studios, and Atomic Arcade all have games coming from Wizards. Reports suggest the internal Skeleton Key studio faced problems earlier this year with employee layoffs. The company still wants to continue the Baldur's Gate series after Larian Studios ended their partnership. Wizards searches for new ways to expand their most popular gaming franchises.
