Precious metals achieved record levels Wednesday as gold surpassed Rs 1 lakh per 10 grams and silver established fresh peaks above Rs 1.15 lakh per kilogram. Twenty-four carat gold climbed Rs 1,025 to reach Rs 1,00,533 according to India Bullion and Jewellers Association data. Twenty-two carat varieties advanced to Rs 92,088 while eighteen carat gold touched Rs 75,400. Silver gained Rs 1,357 to settle at Rs 1,15,850 per kilogram. The white metal has surged over 34 percent from January's Rs 86,055 starting point.
Multi Commodity Exchange futures reflected continued strength with August gold contracts rising 0.17 percent to Rs 1,00,500. September silver advanced 0.58 percent to Rs 1,16,323 on the same platform. International markets presented contrasting signals as COMEX gold declined 0.08 percent to $3,441.10 per ounce. LKP Securities analyst Jateen Trivedi expects gold to remain within Rs 99,000 to Rs 1,01,500 ranges pending US economic indicators.
