Goromonzi villagers filed a High Court application against the Air Force of Zimbabwe after military personnel allegedly assaulted residents who questioned a Chinese brick-making operation disguised as radar construction. Friday Ngoshi, Ephraim Kabvuri and William Kapeta represent 400 households seeking protection from eviction and grave desecration. The plaintiffs claim Wing Commander Masongelwa Ndhlovu arrived in June 2025, surveyed the land without consultation, and told villagers the military operates above the law.
Residents allege armed officers destroyed homes, damaged roads and dug trenches through burial sites while threatening to shoot anyone who resisted. Ndhlovu denied the accusations, stating the government authorized the radar relocation from Mount Hampden in 2014 to accommodate Parliament construction. Military officials confirmed a revenue-generating agreement with the Chinese company, but insisted proper procedures were followed and alternative land is being secured for affected families.
