Government Advances 2025 Independence Day and Children Party Plans

Zimbabwe prepares for the upcoming 45th Independence Day events at Nembudziya Growth Point. Workers rush to finish building projects at three main sites across the Gokwe North district. These include the main celebration grounds, Nembudziya Government High School, and Nyamuroro High School, where different parts of the festivities will happen.

Dr. Jenfan Muswere shared details about the April national events after Tuesday's Cabinet meeting. Daniel Garwe, acting as head of the State Occasions Committee, presented progress reports to government leaders. The celebrations follow Zimbabwe's tradition of hosting these national gatherings in different provinces each year.

The Children's Party starts on April 17 at Nyamuroro High School. Later that evening, musicians and performers gather at Nembudziya Government High School for the Independence Gala. The main celebration takes place the next day, April 18, at the open grounds of Nembudziya Growth Point.

Officials expect 60,000 people from across Zimbabwe to attend under the theme of development toward Vision 2030. Construction teams have made significant progress at all three locations where events will happen. The government drilled 110 water wells throughout Gokwe North and South districts, including three at the celebration sites.

Transportation plans include 369 buses that will bring people from every province to the celebrations. About 3,050 children will arrive on April 15 for the special gathering with the First Family on April 17. These young guests will stay through April 19 before returning home.

Traditional ceremonies include the symbolic Torch Relay, which leads to the lighting of the Independence Flame. Entertainment features talented artists and dance groups from Kwekwe, Gokwe, and nearby districts. Sports fans can watch Simba Bhora play against FC Platinum during the main celebration and Herentals Queens versus Black Rhinos during the Children's Party.

The Cabinet also approved plans to move the Sanganai/Hlanganani Business Expo to Mutare City. This tourism trade show will take place September 10-12, 2025, in Manicaland Province. Future expos will rotate through all ten provinces instead of staying in one location every year.

Minister Muswere explained this approach matches government policy to spread development across every region. The rotating schedule helps showcase each province as a destination for tourism investments. This strategy aims to ensure all areas benefit from national events and economic opportunities.
