Govt cheers NGO hustle in Longido, water and classrooms flow

The government says it's keeping the door open for NGO help. Deputy Minerals Minister Stephen Kiruswa, also the Longido MP, reiterated this stance during a project tour in Arusha's Longido District. He praised the local NGO Pingo's Forum for its work, citing over 150 million shillings invested in water systems and teacher housing in areas like Kimwati and Olbomba Wards. Kiruswa stated the Sixth Phase Government prioritizes citizen-focused development and will partner with groups whose goals match national plans.

Pingo's Forum Coordinator Kiaro Tendeu detailed the projects, noting a 70 million shilling water scheme in Sinonik Ward with a large storage tank and separate livestock reservoir is nearly complete. An 80 million shilling combined water and teacher housing project in Olbomba Ward should finish this year. Longido District Council Chairman Thomas Ngobei announced plans to meet all district NGOs to better coordinate their strategies, aiming to maximize impact on community welfare and long-term development goals.
