Govt tackles road hazards with tow trucks and tech overhaul

Zimbabwe plans to remove stranded vehicles from national roadways using newly acquired heavy-duty tow trucks as authorities work to reduce collision deaths involving abandoned automobiles. Transport Minister Felix Mhona announced that the ministry has obtained 10 specialized recovery vehicles through CMED and intends to purchase an additional 10 units to address mounting safety concerns. Vehicle owners will pay all towing expenses.

The initiative forms part of broader traffic modernization efforts that feature the Zimbabwe Integrated Transport Management Information System alongside ongoing Emergency Road Rehabilitation and Road Development programmes designed to upgrade national infrastructure conditions.
