Grimaldo bags two free kicks as nine-man Leverkusen sink Frankfurt 3-1

Bayer Leverkusen claimed their first victory of the season under new manager Kasper Hjulmand with a 3-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt. Alex Grimaldo delivered two stunning free kicks while Patrik Schick converted a penalty to secure the home win. The match took a dramatic turn when Leverkusen received two red cards during the contest.

Grimaldo opened the scoring after ten minutes with a masterful free kick that deflected off the post before finding the net. Schick doubled the advantage from the penalty spot during first-half stoppage time after Nathan Tella was fouled inside the box. Can Uzun responded for Frankfurt early in the second half with a deflected strike.

Captain Robert Andrich received his second yellow card with thirty minutes remaining, and Equi Fernandez was also dismissed during stoppage time. Despite playing with nine men, Grimaldo sealed the victory with another brilliant free kick eight minutes from the final whistle. Hjulmand successfully began his tenure after replacing Erik ten Hag.
