Group demands finance minister, AGF, ousted over budget failure

Nigeria’s finance bosses face a firing squad over this absolute budget implementation disaster. The Civil Rights Network on Accountability requested that the National Assembly pass a no-confidence vote against Wale Edun and Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi. This group slammed the Minister of Finance and the Accountant-General of the Federation for overseeing a total collapse of fiscal leadership. Adekunle Ogunsiwaju, alongside Nkiru Okoye, claimed these officials failed to execute a single percentage of the 2025 budget despite the fiscal year progressing deeply.

The organization labeled this situation a dangerous governance failure instead of a simple administrative lapse. They warned that President Bola Tinubu risks his credibility if he retains these individuals. CRNA insisted that keeping them guarantees the March deadline for partial implementation ends in shambles because the duo lacks urgency.

Critics argued that opacity and poor communication define the current system. The group urged the Senate and House of Representatives to use their oversight powers decisively. They maintained that a no-confidence vote represents responsibility instead of hostility since stalled projects and rising economic hardship continue to batter citizens.
