Group seeks NMDPRA boss Farouk Ahmed suspension over 5m fraud case

A protest group wants the government to fire the head of Nigeria's oil regulation agency right away. The Young Professionals Forum accused Farouk Ahmed of stealing millions of dollars from public money. They gathered at the agency's headquarters in Abuja to demand his removal from office. The group claims Ahmed used his position to fund his family's expensive lifestyle abroad. They say he betrayed the trust of ordinary Nigerians who struggle to pay for basic education.

Ahmed allegedly spent over five million dollars sending his four children to elite schools in Switzerland and India. His kids attend institutions that charge between eighty thousand and one hundred forty thousand dollars each year. These schools serve only the super wealthy and royalty from around the world. The protesters named specific schools like Aiglon College and Institut Le Rosey as examples. They say Ahmed hid these payments through secret accounts and fake relatives.

The group found another problem with Ahmed's son Faisal working at Oando oil company. This creates unfair advantages since Ahmed's agency controls what Oando can do in business. The protesters believe Ahmed helped arrange this job for his child. They call this a clear case of using government power for family benefits. Such arrangements damage the fairness of oil industry oversight.

Ahmed also approved dangerous diesel imports that contain deadly pollution levels. The fuel has forty times more harmful sulfur than international safety rules allow. This poisonous diesel hurts people's lungs and damages the environment across Nigerian cities. The protesters say Ahmed protects corrupt fuel traders instead of protecting Nigerian lives.
