Guardiola shuts door on Barcelona return, vows to take a break

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola announced his intention to step away from football after completing his tenure with the Premier League club. The 54-year-old coach revealed these plans during an interview with GQ Hype Magazine while reflecting on his team's disappointing previous campaign. City finished third in the league and exited the Champions League before reaching the round of sixteen. Guardiola emphasized that his decision remains firm despite his contract running until 2027. The duration of his planned hiatus remains uncertain.

The Spanish tactician acknowledged the physical and mental demands of coaching at the highest level. He expressed his need to concentrate on personal well-being after years of intense pressure. Guardiola noted the challenge of managing 23 players while selecting only eleven for matches every few days. This situation creates inevitable tension within the squad. The coach also ruled out returning to Barcelona, where he previously achieved remarkable success between 2008 and 2012.
