Gujarat kids write stories while parents struggle to eat

The Gujarat government recognizes student talent through its Mission Bal Varta program, which recently hosted a story-writing competition for government school students in the Kherva cluster of Mehsana district. Nine schools sent participants to the contest, and officials selected 21 stories that met quality standards for publication in an upcoming book. Student Krishna Garhvi said the recognition brought happiness after learning her story would appear in a children's literature collection.

The program has motivated young writers to pursue creative storytelling more seriously, according to student Diya Gadia, who credited the initiative with improving her narrative abilities. CRC Coordinator Hetalben Mehta of Mehsana confirmed the education department will publish the selected stories soon to provide a platform for emerging writers. Teachers conducted a guidance session at Kherva Primary Kumar School to help students refine their writing techniques. The initiative has successfully promoted reading habits and literary development among school-level learners across Gujarat.
