Gumbo inspects the Beira consulate after three years of renovation delays

Workers are nearing the completion of extensive renovations at Zimbabwe's diplomatic mission in Beira, Mozambique's second-largest port city. The facility renovation commenced in 2022 but encountered significant delays due to tropical cyclones striking the region. Construction teams have finished civil works, applied fresh paint, installed enhanced security systems, and redesigned living spaces for diplomatic personnel. Presidential Special Advisor Dr Joram Gumbo will inspect the upgraded premises this Wednesday during his official visit to Mozambique. The assessment forms part of his broader governmental monitoring mission across the country.

The diplomatic post provides document services to Zimbabwean citizens, offers emergency assistance, and promotes bilateral trade relationships. Staff members facilitate tourism exchanges between the two neighboring nations through their operational activities. The consulate extends its services across seven Mozambican provinces, spanning the regions of Sofala, Manica, Tete, Zambezia, Nampula, Cabo Delgado, and Niassa. Government officials view the renovation project as supporting the priorities of the National Development Strategy One. The initiative aims to strengthen Zimbabwe's international reputation while attracting foreign investment partnerships through improved diplomatic infrastructure.
