Guyana cops torch $409M cannabis farm, find guns

Guyanese authorities destroyed more than $409 million in cannabis and confiscated two shotguns during raids along the Upper Berbice River on Sunday. Police found 350 pounds of dried marijuana at a camp in Zion and burned the facility along with a two-acre cultivation site. A second operation at Kalkuni yielded 650 pounds of processed cannabis and 3,000 plants across another two-acre farm.

Officers seized two twelve-gauge shotguns without serial numbers and 19 cartridges during the Kalkuni search. The weapons went to ballistics experts for examination while authorities burned all cannabis and dismantled both camps. Police valued the Kalkuni seizure at $266 million and the Zion haul at $142.8 million. The operations targeted illegal drug production in the Berbice River area without confrontation.
