Gyida Locked Up 20 Years for Wa Bike Heist

Wa Circuit Court sent Adams Hamidu to prison for 20 years after finding him guilty of robbery. The 19-year-old criminal known as Gyida must serve hard labor during his sentence. Upper West Regional Police prosecutors presented evidence against the young man on Thursday June 5. Judges decided Hamidu took part in violent theft crimes earlier during 2025. Court officials delivered the punishment after reviewing police reports about his actions.

Hamidu and another robber attacked someone back during February and stole valuable items from their victim. The criminals grabbed a blue Honda motorcycle worth 20,000 cedis from the person they robbed. They also took a Tecno phone valued at 1,300 cedis and cash totaling 10,800 cedis. Police never caught the second robber who escaped after the crime. Officers spent months tracking down Hamidu before making their arrest.

Police captured Hamidu on Saturday June 1 during a special operation around Domowa area. Officers from Wa West District used intelligence reports to find the criminal at his hiding place. Regional police leaders praised the court decision as progress against violent crime across their territory. Law enforcement officials promised citizens they would continue hunting dangerous criminals. Police commanders assured residents that officers remain committed to protecting community safety.
