Half-Life 3 still hidden as Valve sweats Steam Machine price

The Game Awards wrapped up without any sign of Half-Life 3, even though people were expecting an announcement. Journalist Mike Straw says Valve is holding back because RAM prices are completely messed up right now, which would make their Steam Machine way more expensive than planned. The game was supposed to launch alongside the hardware, but nobody wants to reveal anything until the pricing situation gets sorted out.

Straw mentioned that multiple sources told him about different announcement dates that have all come and gone. He says these are legit sources who have given him accurate info before about other games like Madden and an upcoming Lord of the Rings project. Everyone still insists the game is real and should drop around the same time as the Steam Machine.

The whole thing is complicated because Valve already said it would not subsidize the console like Microsoft and Sony do. With RAM costs up by hundreds of percent since October, they might have to slap a pretty brutal price tag on the hardware, which could tank sales right out the gate.
