Halo ditches risks, revives fan-fave sequels quietly

Halo Studios is reportedly planning full remakes for Halo 2 and Halo 3 following next year's Halo: Campaign Evolved. This info comes from series insider Rebs Gaming, who cited a former developer under NDA. The move seems like a safe play by Microsoft and studio leadership to rebuild fan trust after recent titles faced criticism, basically banking on the proven success of the original trilogy.

These remakes would follow the same blueprint as Campaign Evolved, meaning no multiplayer components and a faithful retelling of the stories, though endings might get tweaked. Both games could launch from a single hub or client. The rationale, according to sources, is that reselling remastered classics on new platforms has higher revenue potential than just porting the Master Chief Collection.

The studio apparently wants to avoid the risk of another divisive new entry. By returning to the fan-favorite second and third games, they aim to solidify a foundation for the franchise's future. Hints emerged earlier when a new hire referenced a famous Halo 2 quote online. Another reliable insider had accurately leaked Campaign Evolved details before its announcement, also mentioning these follow-up remakes. With the team focused on the first remake, official confirmation on the later titles is likely still far off.
