Harare clears Warren Park, fixes water

The City of Harare has launched a dual-purpose operation in Warren Park, combining the demolition of illegal structures with a critical water infrastructure upgrade. Municipal crews are clearing unauthorized extensions and abandoned vehicles to reclaim public spaces and improve sanitation. Concurrently, aging asbestos water pipes are being replaced with new PVC piping along specific avenues to address chronic leaks and water loss.

Ward 15 Councillor Tatenda Machirori confirmed the projects, noting residents should anticipate temporary water disruptions during the installation process. He described the pipe replacement as a long-term solution for erratic water supply and part of a wider initiative to enhance city services. The operation involves council workers and a partnership with the contractor Halcrow Electrical.
