A court gave Hillary Mutanhaurwa ten years behind bars last Friday for stealing power cables. He admitted his crime to Magistrate Appollonia Marutya at the Harare court. Police said Mutanhaurwa dug up cables outside a building on Kwame Nkrumah Street on April 30. Security guards caught him cutting an underground cable at number 138. The guards arrested him right away.
Mutanhaurwa showed police where he left his tools during his arrest. Officers found a hoe he used to dig up the earth around the cables. The court looked at both the cable and the hoe as proof of his actions. The stolen cable cost about one hundred US dollars. Workers recovered all the missing cables from the crime scene.
