Harare Drowns in Trash as Geo Pomona Comes to Town

Geo Pomona launches door-to-door trash pickup across Harare starting tomorrow. Company trucks will visit homes throughout the capital city to collect garbage from residents. Chief executive Dr Dilesh Nguwaya says workers remain committed to serving all neighborhoods. The new sorting plant helps separate recyclable materials from regular waste. Officials hope residents will learn better recycling habits through this program.

President Mnangagwa opens the modern waste sorting facility today before trash collection begins. The plant follows international standards for processing different types of garbage. Workers separate bulk items and recyclable materials from general waste streams. The system prevents useful materials from burning unnecessarily. Advanced equipment identifies waste with high energy value for future power generation.

The completed waste-to-energy plant will burn 1,000 tons of trash daily. This process creates between 16 and 22 megawatts of electricity each hour. The power feeds directly into Zimbabwe's national electrical grid. The sorting plant supports environmental protection through proper waste handling. Geo Pomona aims to change how people think about throwing away materials.
