Police arrested four people for having sex outside during nighttime hours at Southlea Park. Three women and one man faced charges after officers caught them engaged in sexual activity near public areas. The arrests happened on June 9 around 9 PM when Constable Precious Manyimbiri received information about the incident. Officers Sergeant Dohwe and Constables Mutume and Shoko joined the operation to investigate the report. They found the individuals performing sexual acts and took them into custody immediately.

Mellisa Mapanga aged 23, Rutendo Joseph aged 27, and Elsie Mupesa aged 22 work as sex workers according to court records. Their client Takura Pedzisai is 35 years old and married with a pregnant wife at home. All four defendants appeared before Mbare magistrate Tatenda Mukurunga and admitted guilt to disorderly conduct charges. The women explained they relied on sex work as their only way to earn money for survival. Police filed formal reports documenting the arrests and charges against each person.

Magistrate Mukurunga gave each woman a 50 dollar fine or 45 days behind bars if they cannot pay. Pedzisai received a 100 dollar penalty because the court considered his married status and pregnant wife as serious factors. The judge stressed that public decency matters and warned citizens about engaging in such behavior. He promised continued prosecution for similar crimes committed in public spaces across the city.
