The old roundabout created long delays and accidents during busy times. Drivers struggled to move through the area for years. The government spent 88 million dollars to fix the problem.
Construction teams started work during January 2022. They built a modern flyover with extra lanes and better sidewalks. The new design helps cars move faster along Simon Mazorodze Road and other nearby streets. Traffic flows more smoothly to Chitungwiza and High Glen areas. Thousands of vehicles will use the interchange each day.
Tendai Mandebvu drives from Highfield every day for work. He says traffic moves better and feels more organized around the new interchange. Sharon Makore from Glen Norah hopes the improved roads will reduce crime. She explains that people often lost phones and wallets around the chaotic old roundabout. Better road design and traffic control seem to help the situation.
