Harare pageant swaps real crowns for locally sourced WIGAZ stones

Women gemstone artisans from Zimbabwe crafted a spectacular crown for the Miss Teen Universe pageant using precious stones mined locally. The stunning headpiece bears the name Maribwe Crown after the Karanga term for stones. WIGAZ members poured their skills into creating the dazzling symbol of beauty and cultural pride. The handmade masterpiece showcases the incredible talent of female craftspeople across the nation. Local gemstones transformed into an artistic treasure represent the country's mineral wealth.

Ruvimbo Kadenhe from WIGAZ described the crown as a beacon of female empowerment and inner strength. The secretary explained how the headpiece connects young women to their cultural roots and personal potential. She compared teenage girls to raw gemstones that shine brightly when polished properly. The crown will inspire contestants to recognize their inherent worth during competition. Future winners will wear a symbol representing resilience and determination.

Fourteen hopeful teenagers will compete for the prestigious title at Holiday Inn Hotel on July 26. National Director Mthokozisi Masuku praised the gift as adding elegance to the grand finale celebration. The event promotes girl child empowerment while highlighting cultural heritage and Vision 2030 goals. Local businesses including My Afrika Magazine and ZimTickets support the pageant through partnerships. The competition breaks tradition by featuring domestically produced regalia instead of imported crowns from foreign manufacturers.
