Harare Property Owners Petition Mayor Mafume

Building owners in Harare city center are upset with Mayor Jacob Mafume. They say he hasn't fixed their big problems. These owners include big companies like Mohammed Mussa and Bhika Brothers.

The owners wrote a letter to tell the mayor what was wrong. They pay too much for city services. Their water bills have mistakes. The streets are too crowded. Crime makes things unsafe. Their buildings are worth less money than before.

The owners want answers fast. They told the mayor he had 14 days to fix things. If he doesn't, they might sue him. They've been asking for help for six months, but nothing has changed.

The owners have met with the mayor twice already. The city sent people to these meetings, too. Everyone agreed the owners were paying too much. The mayor said he would fix it, but he hasn't done anything yet.

The owners are worried about their buildings losing value. Many businesses have moved away, and many buildings sit empty. But the city still charges high fees as if everything were fine. The owners think this isn't fair.

Money problems are getting worse for these owners. Many need to close their books for the year. The city's high charges will hurt their business records. They want this fixed right away.

The owners tried to ask Mayor Mafume what he thought. He saw their messages but didn't write back or answer his phone, either.
