Hargreaves pins Fernandes penalty flub on Amorim

Owen Hargreaves attributes Bruno Fernandes' penalty miss to tactical positioning changes implemented by manager Ruben Amorim. Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat against Brentford on Saturday after the Portuguese midfielder failed to convert from the spot. The former England international suggests Fernandes' deeper midfield deployment reduced his effectiveness in attacking areas.

Brentford established a two-goal advantage within 20 minutes through Igor Thiago before Benjamin Sesko responded for the visitors. Fernandes approached the penalty after Bryan Mbeumo drew a foul, but saw Caoimhin Kelleher deny his weak attempt. Hargreaves emphasized that Fernandes performs better as an attacking midfielder, stating the player must return to his natural number 10 position to maximize his creative abilities.
