Highlanders FC Players Paid Bonuses After Wicknell Chivayo's $250 000 Instalment

Highlanders Football Club received their first major payment from businessman Wicknell Chivayo's sponsorship agreement. The club collected $250,000 as the opening installment of a planned $1 million deal. Officials immediately allocated $57,000 from these funds to pay overdue player bonuses from recent seasons. Jabulani Nkomo manages the sponsorship program and confirmed the quick distribution of money. Players should see the bonus payments arrive at their bank accounts very soon.

Chivayo structured his support as four equal payments delivered every three months. The wealthy businessman has shown strong interest at helping Zimbabwe football teams. He previously paid a $27,000 FIFA debt that threatened to ban Highlanders from making player transfers. His intervention saved the historic club from serious operational problems. The debt involved former coaches Baltemar Brito and Antonio Joao Torres.

Club leaders plan additional meetings to decide how they will spend remaining sponsorship money. Nkomo said the financial support creates higher expectations for team performance on the field. Highlanders supporters feel excited about the new funding and hope it leads to better competitive results. The agreement marks a major change for one of Zimbabwe's most famous football organizations. Officials want to use this opportunity to strengthen the club's future operations.
