Highlanders Snatch Win as Diamonds Crumble

Highlanders defeated Manica Diamonds 1-0 at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare for their first victory after five winless matches. The away team dominated most of the game and created many scoring chances throughout the first half. Mafious Chihweta scored the winner after 64 minutes when he controlled a pass inside the penalty area and placed his shot past goalkeeper Tedious Baye. Brighton Ncube almost doubled the lead during stoppage time but his powerful strike hit the crossbar.

Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera refused to shake hands after the match and avoided speaking with reporters. Angry fans surrounded club officials and demanded the coach be fired after another poor performance. The home team has struggled all season and remains without a win since losing 4-1 to Simba Bhora earlier in the campaign. Their recent form shows seven draws and two defeats across nine league matches.

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu praised his team for finally converting their possession into goals after recent struggles. The victory moves them up the table and provides much-needed confidence for upcoming fixtures. Their last win came against Yadah Stars back in May before this extended poor run.
