Highways rerouted for roadwork, detours ahead

Drivers around Sofia better get ready for some traffic headaches on major highways like Hemus, Struma, and Trakia. The Road Infrastructure Agency says lane closures and detours are coming because of marking work, drainage fixes, and bridge repairs across different stretches of these routes. Basically, crews will be shuffling cars into fewer lanes while they handle the necessary construction.

Most of the work happens during daytime hours, and speed limits will drop in certain zones. On the Sofia-Samokov road, authorities will even stop traffic completely for 20-minute chunks because slopes are collapsing and need attention. Weather permitting, everything should wrap up after a few days.

The agency dropped the usual apology for the mess, but reminded everyone that this stuff keeps roads safe and smooth. They want drivers to chill on risky passes and actually follow posted limits while the work continues.
