Hima Open returns to Tooro Golf Club with over 150 golfers set to compete

More than 150 golfers will battle for huge cash prizes at Fort Portal next weekend. The Hima Open returns to Tooro Golf Club from July 10 through July 12 with eight million shillings up for grabs. Players fight across men's, ladies', seniors' and other divisions on the famous nine-hole course. The tournament mixes sports action with local heritage and cultural celebration. King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV plans to attend as the main guest.

Club captain Robert Mugabe says his team keeps producing Uganda's best golf talent. The Fort Portal venue sits right at the heart of the country's top tourism area. Hima Cement backs the event as part of their community support programs. Brand manager Joan Kitawona wants stronger ties with golf fans and better company recognition. The cement company just finished sponsoring another tournament at Entebbe last weekend.

Last year's champions Joseph Cwinyaai and Peace Kabasweka return to defend their crowns. Both players face tough competition from dozens of skilled amateurs eager for victory. The scenic mountain course provides a stunning backdrop for three days of intense competition. Golf officials briefed media representatives at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala about tournament preparations. Organizers promise an exciting blend of serious sport and cultural festivities for all participants.
