Holstin Horror Demo Is A Two Hour Terror Fest

Developer Sonka showed a new trailer for horror game Holstin during Future Games Show. Players can download a two-hour demo that covers the opening section of the full game. Previous demos only featured specific parts but the latest version lets people experience the complete beginning. The psychological survival horror takes place during 1990s Poland inside the lakeside town Jeziorne-Kolonia. Players control Tomasz who remains human as other residents transform into scary ooze creatures.

The game uses special 2XD rendering technology that switches between different camera angles seamlessly. Artists created fully lit 3D pixel environments that shift perspectives during real-time gameplay. Holstin draws inspiration from classic horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The team plans to release across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms.

Recent indie horror games have gained popularity among gaming communities through retro-style graphics. Titles like Signalis, Crow Country and Mouthwashing became fan favorites using pixel art designs. These games prove that older visual styles can enhance scary moments for players. Sonka will launch a Kickstarter campaign later during 2025 to fund the final development stages. Holstin could join the list of successful indie horror games when it launches.
