Hope Foundation Expands Focus to Include Arthritis at 2025 Seminar

The Hope Foundation just made a major move that has health advocates talking. The charity group decided to help arthritis patients after years of focusing only on lupus disease. Community members kept asking the organization to expand its work beyond just one condition. Foundation leaders listened to these requests and hosted their first dual seminar at the fancy Radisson Aquatica Resort. The Sunday morning event brought together patients from both disease groups for the first time ever.

Doctor Cindy Flower works as a specialist who treats joint problems and autoimmune diseases. She explained that people with arthritis had been demanding better support from advocacy groups. The medical expert pointed out that lupus and arthritis share many similarities when it comes to treatment options. Both conditions respond well to similar medications and diet changes. Flower believes that patients who learn about their diseases can spot problems early and avoid serious complications.

More than one hundred different types of arthritis exist around the world according to medical research. The foundation invited several doctors to speak at the educational event about various health topics. Medical student Andwele Walrond talked about kidney damage that can happen with these diseases. Dietitian Kerri-Ann Best shared advice about eating the right foods to control symptoms. Doctor Shanika Russell covered skin problems that patients often face.

The foundation plans to organize another meeting with medical professionals before the year ends. Sunday's seminar featured hands-on presentations that helped attendees learn practical information. Doctor Mellissa Boyce from Queen Elizabeth Hospital gave an overview of both medical conditions. Doctor Tracy Archer discussed how autoimmune diseases affect pregnancy and reproductive health. The organization hopes this expansion will reach more people who need education and support services.
